Varsity vs Lennard High School on 10/16/2008
Posted Friday, October 17, 2008 by Scott Purks

THE DIFFERENCE: Tampa Bay Tech (6-1) was stronger, faster, quicker and executed better than Lennard (3-4) from start to finish. Tech quarterback Angel Rodriguez (nine carries, 87 yards, four touchdowns) and fullback Maurice Hagens (12 carries, 100 yards, one touchdown) pretty much ran at will.

GAME NOTES: The trouble for Lennard started on the opening kickoff, which it fumbled away on its 22-yard line. Four plays later, Hagens ran 4 yards for the game's first touchdown. From that point to the end of the first half, Tech averaged a touchdown every four minutes, taking a 35-0 lead. In the second half, the running clock kicked in, but the Titans still tacked on 21 more points. In the end, four Tech players - Rodriguez, Hagens, Antonio Wallace and D'Andre Fulton - rushed for 50 yards or more. ... TBT's victory was in sharp contrast to last week, when Armwood thrashed the Titans 45-6.

STAT OF THE GAME: Tech had 110 penalty yards, which was 102 more than Lennard's offense gained. ... Tech racked up six sacks for minus-44 yards.

QUOTE OF THE GAME: "We were really banged up this week and we didn't practice that great. I was worried about how we would execute tonight, but we came and focused and played pretty good." - Tampa Bay Tech coach C.C. Culpepper
