Tampa Bay Tech 21, Sickles 10

Varsity vs Sickles HS on 9/19/2008
Posted Saturday, September 20, 2008 by Justin Lentz

THE DIFFERENCE: Sickles struggled to stop the strong Tampa Bay Tech running game. Incomplete passes and bad snaps didn't help the Gryphons either as they tried to rally late in the fourth quarter. Sickles also couldn't take advantage of the help of several personal foul calls against the Titans' defense.

GAME NOTES: Sickles initiated the scoring when K Andres Vasquez nailed a 34-yard field with 4:45 left before the half. ... The Titans answered on the next drive when QB Angel Rodriguez snuck in for an 8-yard score. ... A Sickles interception at the beginning of the fourth quarter gave the Gryphons another chance to earn points, but Rodriguez ran in his third touchdown in the game from the 1-yard line on a nine-play drive on Tech's next possession. ... Rodriguez connected on a pass only once for a 28-yard reception, but ended up scoring three rushing touchdowns. ... Sickles regained some momentum on the next drive when QB Cullen O'Brien connected with Chris Nahat on a 15-yard score. Sickles then recovered two Titans fumbles, but the offense could not convert them into points. ... Sickles has yet to win a game this season, while TBT remains undefeated.

STAT OF THE GAME: Titans RB Maurice Hagens earned the most offensive yards for the Titans with 154 yards on 32 carries.
